SIN DESTINO
SYNOPSIS
In this portrait of life on the streets of Mexico City, a young hustler finds himself changed by his involvement in brutally, violent acts.
REVIEW
Inspired by Luis Buñuel’s Los Olvidados, Mexican writer/director Leopoldo Laborde's haunting, engrossing film tells the story of Fran, a 15-year-old boy prostituting himself to men of all ages. His best friend, David, sells drugs on the street to teenagers and is always pressuring Fran to have sex with women instead. Desperate to escape his hard life, Fran finds solace in cocaine, which offers him Technicolor hallucinations of orgies involving both sexes. When the young hustler finds himself attracted to Angelica, a pretty blonde, he becomes obsessed with her. But when Sebastian, an older man who took Fran’s virginity re-enters his life, the young boy becomes even more sexually confused. Pushed to the edge emotionally, Fran finds himself involved in a series of brutal and violent situations that will haunt him forever. Shot primarily in startling black and white, Sin Destino offers a glimpse into life on the rough streets of Mexico City and how these very same streets can affect the heart and soul of young, impressionable boys who long for a better life.
